The signal in out village went down last Thursday with no notification. Vodafone users had the same issue. Checking the O2 site it said that this was maintenance work that would be completed by Friday evening. Over the weekend we started getting an occasional very weak signal, whereas before it had been 4G with at least 2-3 bars. However the O2 app said that everything was working fine. I’ve now reported the issue multiple times, but nothing happens (other than a message saying “O2 Warning: Hi, we've had multiple attempts to access your O2 mobile account through our contact centers. If you didn't call us then please contact O2 so we can protect your account. Thanks”).
So on Monday I called O2 and was told everything is fine! After explaining the situation (affecting residents and people working here), she said she would hand it to the engineers, and that they would contact me. I’ve heard nothing since.
Does this just mean that O2 and Vodafone have degraded their service here, or maybe changed the mast so that this is the new normal? Is my only option to cancel my contract and move to EE or Three who are still working fine?

Yes I understand that maintenance and outages are necessary, although it would be useful to get a notification.
My issue is that the maintenance is finished and both O2 and Vodafone are saying that everything is fine despite multiple people affected and multiple tickets raised. I’m sure sometimes people report faults when it’s an issue with their phone etc, but when people are telling them that a large part of a village is affected, it should be obvious that their monitoring tools aren’t working…

I think that if you keep using that app and if you can can encourage others in your village to utilise that app too, then O2 will hopefully get the message. 👍

Yes it’s possible I will regret it, but O2 have already leaked my details and I get calls from dodgy people pretending to be O2 on a regular basis, and both O2 and Vodafone are saying no signal is the new normal for this village. People using Three and EE have signal at present so it would seem crazy to tie myself in for another year with O2 now.

Legal-related decoms happen with all networks, and are a source of much frustration. EE are more open than most about their problem areas, otherwise press reports are often the result of an MP expressing an interest.
Removal of existing coverage causes understandable frustration but is rarely intentional, and restoration rarely delayed without good reason. Unfortunately the reasons for delay can't usually be communicated, not that most users would be interested.
