No network in Sicily - Italy no roaming - again

I was told by 02 that I could get service in Italy and added extra data to cover using maps translate etc on the move. I landed in Sicily, the network provider name came on with a small signal then completely disappeared and I got no service at all. I tried manual connection, switching off and on again and all the suggestions on the forum but nothing. 

My friend on a different provider had no issues whatsoever.

Do you have 4G Calling (VoLTE) active?

Now the Italy has no 3G some networks see it as a prerequisite in order to connect.

Have you tried a manual network search and tried each available network in turn?

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
