Hi. I currently have a 4g huawei. I've just received my new Samsung galaxy s21 5g. It's come with a new sim. How do i change over to the new phone, keeping all my photos, messages, contacts etc. And keeping my same number. Its all a mystery to me!!

If you upgraded @SuzyC then use your old sim in your new phone.
If you took out a deal from someone else (mobilephonesdirect for instance) you will need to call customer services and ask them to move your number (numbers and hints on getting through in the guide below).

As for swapping everything, Samsung have an app in the app store to help:

There is some additional advice in this link from Samsung:

Please note, this is not customer services and we cannot access your account. Do not publish personal details (email, phone number, bank account).

Hi @SuzyC
This is a great guide. Shows Huawei to Samsung. Basically using Smartswitch. Read it properly as it's quite easy and does show you another 3 ways. I used the phone to phone method when I transferred over from my Note 8 to Note 10. (Took 15 minutes)

Hi, thanks for your reply, it's really helpful. I have upgraded, through O2. My original phone is 4g. If I put my old sim in my new phone does that mean the new phone will only be 4g. They sent me a new 5g sim with the new phone. If I use the new sim will it mean my number changes? I was planning on doing the data transfer then putting the sim in the new phone, I just don't know which sim to use.

If your new phone is 5g you can do a sim swap from your old sim to activate the new sim.
Your number and contract will transfer to the new sim.
