New SIM for new phone?

Hello, just picked up my new iPhone from O2 store. Didn't get a new SIM with it, though I do have a spare one which is up to date. I want to transfer data from my old iPhone. Do I put the new SIM in the new phone, or switch the old one over? Thanks

If it is an upgrade then you just use your current sim card that you used in your old phone. 

Follow this support guide from Apple on how to transfer data... Make sure you are on wifi and have plenty of time to spare
