I have a Motorola G100 5g handset with a Virgin media 5g sim (o2) I also have 5g coverage where I live but I can’t receive a 5g signal, can anybody tell me if this handset is supported by o2 on their 5g network?

Have you actually transferred to O2 yet?

But yes, if on O2 you should get 5g in a 5g area.

You may need a proper O2 5g sim though.

If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this or pop into your local O2 store with some ID.
Thanks

I have not as yet changed my sim to a genuine o2 sim, but at the weekend I did put my Virgin sim in a Pixel 7 and it worked on 5g straight away. I have been in touch with Motorola CS and have been told it doesn't work because the Moto g100 may not have been adopted by o2!

This has been a thing with Lenovo for a while, I even raised with my Lenovo account manager, and for them to put the settings on the phone then o2 need to stock the phone..

There is only Lenovo who do this, and its garbage...

I have done a bit more digging, I retrieved my IMEI number and then went to www.imei.info and entered it into their database and came up with this below. I wonder if someone more knowledgeable than myself could explain the fact that under 5g it has a tick I presume this means it is 5g compatible but after that there no bands!

GSM:                             ✔️850 900 1800 1900

HSDPA:                         ✔️850 900 2100 HSPA+

LTE:                               ✔️LTE-FDD: 700, 800, 850, 900, 1500, 1700/2100, 1800, 1900, 2100, 2600

                                      ✔️LTE-TDD: 1700, 1900, 2000, 2300, 2500, 2600, 3500, 3700

5G                                 ✔️

5g bands for your phone are:

5G bands1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28, 38, 41, 66, 77, 78 SA/NSA/Sub6

O2 uses Band 78 typically.
