Son lost his sim card has received a new one with his new phone but to activate they are sending messages to the lost SIM card. How can we get this sorted

There will be a bar on the old sim anyway. You need to contact O2 and ask them to lift the bar on his account regarding the new sim. If it was reported lost then they shouldn't be sending texts to the lost sim.
