Has anyone else struggled intermittently with their data signal and not being able to access the internet or it being very slow? I've also noticed that on the phone signal I only have 2 bars these days.

The best thing to check is o2 service status
https://status.o2.co.uk and see if there are any service issues in your area.
2 bars on one phone is 4 bars on another, as it is all down to the algorithm used by the software to show a graphic representation of your signal strength and every phone is different
