Latest Android update has broken Call over Wifi on Sony Xperia 1 ii

Since my Sony Xperia 1 ii ran an update a couple of days ago it has refused to make calls over wifi. As we have zero mobile coverage where we live I rely 100% on Call over Wifi so my phone is currently just an expensive web browser.

This has happened in the past but usually resolved itself after a few hours but it has now been two days and it is still not working. When I try to make a call it says "Mobile network isn't available. Connect to a wireless network to make a call."  (I most definitely AM connected to a wireless network with a very strong connection.)

I have tried all the usual recommended fixes: reset phone, reset router, try in airplane mode but with wifi on, reset network settings and all have made no difference.

Use Wi-Fi calling is turned on.

Calling preference is set to "Call over Wi-fi"

Roaming preference is set to "Wi-fi"

Current build number is 58.2.A.0.899

Please help!!

I also appear to have the problem that the original poster have - I joined O2 yesterday and received the received the pay monthly SIM today which I've inserted into my Xperia 1 ii - there is no Wi-Fi Calling option available under the SIMS (O2) android settings, but the option is there is if I reinsert my current 3 SIM card. The firmware is also on Android 12 /  58.2.A.0.899 .

Is Wi-fi calling supported / or will it be supported on this device firmware release any time soon? (I have some blackspots in the house!). The MyO2 account shows that "You currently have WiFi and 4G Calling turned on."

Thanks in advance!

I contacted Sony who gave the following advice:

With reference to your enquiry regarding your Sony device, kindly be advised that you can try the following in an attempt to resolve the issue:
1-Reboot the device in safe mode as follows:
-Hold the power button until the “power down” options are shown
-(Do precisely the same as when you want to shut down your phone)
-Instead of tapping it, press and hold the [Power off] option
-After a couple of seconds, a [Reboot in safe mode] prompt will appear that allows you to reboot.
-When restarting, Safe mode will appear on-screen, indicating that it’s in safe mode.
-If the issue persists in safe mode, then please move to the second step.

2-Force restart: Press and hold the Power button + Volume button for 10 seconds
3-Force shutdown: Press and hold the Power button + Volume button for 30 seconds until the phone vibrates three times and shuts down
4-Perform a factory data reset as follows:
-Create a backup of your device by following the below article as the factory data reset would erase all data on the device:
https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/mobile-phones-tablets-mobile-phones/xperia-1-ii/articles/...
-Find and tap Settings > System > Advanced > Reset options.
-Tap Erase all data (factory reset) > Reset phone.
-If required, draw your screen unlock pattern or enter your screen unlock password or PIN to continue.
-To confirm, tap Erase everything.
-Rebooting again will return the phone to normal mode.

Having tried all other solutions without success, I was reluctantly forced to resort to a full factory reset after which Wifi Calling started working again.

Having said this, after resetting the phone also ran another system update and is now on build number 58.2.A.2.80 so I am unsure whether it was this update or the factory reset that actually resolved the issue.

Have thanked @O2Lisa on another thread for fixing the port issue, but back to this topic and can finally also confirm that with the new 58.2.A.2.80 update that wi-fi calling is now showing up .
