Just dowload eSim into my Pixel6a as a 2nd sim - No Service/Not Provisioned

I got my esim today for my Google Piexel 6a. This is an additional sim to my already installed physical sim which is also with o2.

I added the esim, and downloaded it via the QR that was sent through.

This all seemed great.

In my status bar at the Top of the phone it shows O2-UK (my physical existing sym) at full service. The esim is showing no service. (I can't send or receive text to/from this esim number)

Do I need to be patient for this to activate or did I miss a step/info?

Bit confused.

Any help much appreciated.

@andy400 Is the esim for a different phone number? You cannot have a physical and esim with the same number.

If they're different, you'll need to speak to customer service.
Call 202 from your mobile or 0344 809 0202, 0800 902 0217 or 0800 032 1402
When it comes to the reason you are calling, stay silent for 15 seconds and you will be taken to the keypad options.
Press 2 for Everything Else
Press 5 for More Options
Press 7 for Anything Else which will put you though to someone.
Say 'Upgrade', 'Lost/Stolen', or 'Fraud' if the suggestion above doesn't get you through.
Best time to call is 8 am.
You can also reach O2 via social media:
Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB), Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW), or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG)

Thanks for the info.

Yes, it's for another phone number.

Out of interest, why would I need to phone? There was nothing about phoning for activation in the eSIM pack or is there something wrong with my eSIM that would need me to call?

You're welcome, @andy400

I suggested phoning because trying to do these things on your own sometimes just doesn't work.

Hi @Breanna

I contacted O2 via Twitter and after and little to and fro got it working, thank you.

When you get an esim normally should it activate automatically or do you need get it activated by contacting support. The reason I ask is that nothing is mentioned on the eSIM pack about needing activation, waiting etc.

@Breanna There's this link from O2 which doesn't give the customer very good information. It gives really vague answers to some points and O2 needs to update it: esim | Help & Support | O2

Being on 360 I've done it through the Sim Swap menu

First time was plastic to Esim and the second Esim to Esim when changing handsets.

On both occasions activation was almost instant.

No instructions what to do if it wasn't

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
