I had an iphone with an O2 contract. That contract has ended and I now have a new phone and contract with O2. How can I tell if my old phone is unblocked - I don't have another network's sim card

All o2 phones for the past few years have been unlocked, so your handset should be unlocked..

The best way to test is with another networks sim card...

iPhone 16 Pro Max - o2 and Spusu
Xperia 1V - Spusu

See guide Guide: Unlocking an O2 phone to use a different SIM card

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
Please select the post that helped you best and mark as the solution. This helps other members in resolving their issues faster. Thank you.

@Peter110a O2 stopped selling locked phones in mid 2018. If your phone was purchased after that it won't be locked.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

If you have iOS14 or above

Since iOS 14, Apple has included a new section called Network Provider Lock which will instantly tell you the status of the device. To access it go to Settings > General > About.

Scroll down to locate the Network Provider Lock section. If the iPhone is unlocked, it should say that there is No SIM restrictions. Should you see a different status, this means that the iPhone is locked.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
