After recieving the unlock code i followed the instructions to unlock the device from O2. The device connects now with a different Sim but does not allow Internet access. The Sim works correctly in another Router but not the Huawei.

You will need to change the apn settings now on the router
Have a look for the settings on your new supplier website @tonyhenderson59

@tonyhenderson59 Hi, are you using a DATA SIM or an normal phone SIM?
As apparently, O2 will block a normal phone SIM from working in a mobile Router.

It is a Sky Sim which can be used for calls , text and Data
