Hiya

My iPhone 11 is not working when roaming in Italy. It briefly connects to a network and I have full bars but it doesn’t connect to 4G, it just goes to E. Then the bars fall completely flat. This happens wherever I am, even though my uncle is on O2 and has full signal and internet connection. I have tried everything recommended on the O2 website. Can you please help? Thank you.

Sounds like Data Roaming switch is off on your phone's SIM/Network settings, @Allahnah

Had the exact same problem a month ago in Spain on one of our PAYG phones. 4G and data worked after setting that to ON.

Hi, thanks but my data roaming is on and I have also tried manually setting the networks but it’s not working. I’m on pay monthly

Hi @Allahnah - as nobody here in the forum can access your account (all are O2 Customers, like yourself), try these options:

1 - Reboot phone.
2 - Manually search for a different network
3 - If using an iPhone, change data apn to "mobile.o2.co.uk"
4 - Check with O2 for any roaming bars (O2 are contactable via FB or Twitter, links below) Guide: O2 BARs list is here for ref.

5. Step down from 5G or 4G to 3G and try option 2 again.

6. Disable WiFi calling, if enabled on your phone, try the manual scan again for a network.

7. Make sure Flight mode is not enabled (or flip it off, then on again).

That's about all the other tips there are to share, @Allahnah - Good luck!

What did they O2 say they did, @Allahnah - so we can add that to the list of tips for others in that situation? Thanks, any clue you can give will be of value to the Forum. 👍

Thank you, @Allahnah - so our tip #3, about changing the APN if using an iPhone, may be something that needs adjustment. Glad you got back online when out and about 👍
