Cannot send text from old style Nokia phone since ...

Hello I’m trying to fix my grandmothers old style Nokia handset, she can receive calls, make calls, receive text.

but…..when she replies to or tries to sent a text its just not leaving any of it!!!!

i cannot take it to the o2 store as they wont look at it as they need ID, i cannot take her as she is bedbound, she relies on this phone so not an option to purchase a new one or change her number…..as it will confuse the hell out of her….

please help me
