I bought a new esim yesterday but this morning I am unable to use my phone or access my 02 account as it requires you to send me a security code which you cant do as my phone is not working. Please help as I have an elderly father who I am now unable to contact and I am working from home today so unable to go to any 02 shop until the weekend!

If you used to have a physical sim in your phone @AmandaJD then you need to remove that to get the eSim working.
Is the eSim a new contract or an upgrade?
Have you installed the eSim on your phone?

Quickest way is to go instore.
O2 will only post out an esim which probably won't arrive before.
