I have received notification that the £G service is being phased out later this year. I have a 5G phone but nearly always have a 3G connection when I am at or near my home. What can I expect when 3G is phased out? I live in postcode BL2 4NZ

@3GPhaseOut

Not a lot really, just that calls will drop down to 2G if 4G is unavailable and data will only work on 4G or 5G

You probably wont see any difference for a while Bolton is not in Phase 2 of the switch off, and hopefully o2 will improve 4G signal in your area, but dead spots will still be dead spots...

I would check if your handset supports 4G calling and Wifi Calling, *only available on Pay Monthly..

This is not customer services and we dont have access to your account
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company

In general that area should have good 4G coverage. If the problem is at home

Guide: Do you have poor coverage / signal Indoors? This may help Explain / resolve it

Use WiFi Calling if possible

Otherwise

Guide: How can I sort out my network issues?

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

I used to live in BL2 and whilst there was no 5G I always found 4G in most locations around Bolton gave speeds of around 10Mbps which whilst relatively below average, it was always ample for my needs.

This is worth a look too @3GPhaseOut :-
