What network, and in which country, @MMG?

If a roaming country, Guide: Roaming MegaGuide may help.

If a WiFi in a cafe or hotel, then the authentication may need to be provided in your browser to connect to the building's WiFi.

Also you could be on the wrong data tariff.

Call customer services (Social Media links below, international numbers in here Guide: Coronavirus Community Help and Support)

and ask them to put you on data for iPhone.

If you are roaming right now, you can change your apn to "mobile.o2.co.uk" and if that works it's definitely a tariff issue.
