I have a samsung galaxy S8 that has wifi calling enabled. sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. it's about 50/50. I don't know if I need to tweak a setting in my phone to make it 100% or is it just a common problem that O2 are flakey at their end and slow to do the handshake and register my phone for wifi calling. thanks for any advice.
ps: in my phone settings I have wifi calling enabled and set to 'wifi preferred' - but still I don't have the wifi calling icon when I dial.

Standard for older generation phones unfortunately.

Make sure you have the latest available firmware installed on your phone @tonjg
Not much else you can do aside from getting a newer phone, but it's not even 100% stable then..... better for sure, but not perfect.

Don't know if this will apply on the S8 but O2 allows you to choose whether you want Wifi Calling to be network preferred (meaning it will only kick in when the signal degrades to a certain level), or WiFi preferred when it will stick with WiFi as long as that signal is good.
As you can see I have O2 as WiFi Preferred and have the WiFi Calling icon showing all the time I am at home.
Vodafone on the other hand does not give me a choice, and due to the strength of the signal only displays the WiFi Calling icon about 25% of the time.
See if you can change to WiFi preferred
