First of all try removing and cleaning your sim card. Check your post code here : http://status.o2.co.uk/
Are you sure your account is ok, up to date etc? It's difficult to comment without knowing more details. Is it just in your home area?

Just to follow on from Jonsies good advice.
Check the APN Settings in your phone.

Go into whichever phone your using and find a setting that resets all network settings.
Also google for soft reset or hard reset {Hard reset does normally mean this wipes your saved data so make a back-up}
If cleaning your sim does not work then another avenue is to perform the swap my sim procedure.
A blank can be picked up from your local 02 Shop or have one posted to you.
Then carry out the SwapMySim procedure in store or at home.
I have included the link to do this.
Take into account it takes from approx 2 hours to 24 hours to fully activate, and by turning your phone off and on throughout this period helps to reset your services.
