why am i being billed for the month before i received my sim card?

April 4th - sign up online for a sim only deal to switch from Three

April 5th - recieve a message saying I will receive a sim card in the next 1-3 days

April 6th - receive a bill for the period March 5th to April 6th:

06 April 2022
Billing period
Until 06 April 2022
Post Brexit, unfair practices are still a breach of consumer rights (https://researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/CBP-9126/CBP-9126.pdf)
Does anyone know what O2's justification for this unfair practice is?

You pay a month in advance for the standard tariff charge.
