What Phone do you have Kev?

Are you on contract or Pay as you go?

A call in to customer service will help to make sure your account is all set up for international use, then it will be a case of making sure your handset can be used.

Information on call charges can be found on the websitehttp://www.o2.co.uk/international/internationalhub

I'd make sure your phone is unlocked to all networks and use a local SIM card while you are there.

Be aware some American networks also charge for receiving texts if you opt to use a local sim.

Use wifi where possible and turn off mobile data. Turn off your O2 voicemail too before you leave the uk.

Free to unlock for pay monthly and £15 for payg (terms and conditions apply)

Unlock form https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%...

Link to costs using your O2 services.
