I want to upgrade my phone do I have to change tariff as well

If you want a subsidsed handset you have to go on a current tariff.

Or stay on the tariff your are on and buy a handest at full price sim free.

Not necessarily unless you are on an old tariff that is now unavailable. Most upgrades come with a choice of tariff and sometimes to keep a tariff you already have, you need to buy the phone outright.

Hi

You won't be able to get a subsidised handset and stay on your sim only deal.

You'd have to either upgrade and go on a 12/18/24 month phone contract or stay on your sim only and buy a new handset outright.
