Hello does anyone know if i can upgrade my phone to a tablet

Yes, you can upgrade your account to any device assuming you are due an upgrade.
In store will be quicker but you can also upgrade through your MyO2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2

@Anonymous I think you have to take out a separate tablet contract

call customer service & they may help you

Good luck and I hope that there will be no problem with stock issues. For that reason alone I would advise going instore.
