we are upset with 02 as we settled our account and upgraded, expecting phones to arrive in a few days , but had a text to say they out of stock contacted 02 they couldn't give a definite delivery date any one else had this problem .

Hi @Anonymous Sadly this happens frequently. If you wish to make a complaint follow this link. It's because O2 don't have a live ordering system and sometimes demand exceeds supply

Many people have the exact same problem. Presumably any money has already been taken. I would be cancelling and going in store.
