my contract phone is in my ex boyfriend mums name. I pay the contract every month into her account which will then be obviously withdrawn from hers. When I have issues ie need to make a claim on my insurance it's kind of a "tricky" one because she isn't the easiest of people to deal with. Is there anyway I could be maybe a 2nd person on the contract where I can go into the shop and deal with issues myself

She will have to phone up cs on 202 and add you to the account as an approved person.

I'd also suggest getting one in your name once the existing one finishes

Too many degrees of separation here. If the phone isn't in your name, but you're paying the contract, you're not doing anything to improve your own credit rating. Even when the contract comes to an end, the person whose name it's in is going to have to go through the cancellation process, which, as you have already said, may be 'tricky'. Not a good situation to be in.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2

Totally agree with @Bambino here. it would be better all round (if you have the funds available) to pay off this contract asap and start a new one in your name
