unlock iPhone 6

Hi, I am writing this message to suggest O2 to improve their customer services. I have recently received an iphone6 as a Xmas present which my friend bought it from carphonewarehouse in full amount. When I first insert my O2 SIM card and it was lock to O2. I then went to the O2 shop and your employee said because I paid for the full amount I should be able to unlock my phone by calling 202. When I rang 202 your employee said there is no way to unlock it because it wasn't bought at O2 shop. Therefore I have requested to leave O2 by cancelling my monthly roll contract and suddenly somehow the customer service is able to request my phone to be unlock within 72 hours. If that's the case why would you guys refused to unlock for me in the first place? I have spent 3days dealing between O2 shop and 202 customers services and it wasn't a nice experience. I hope O2 could work on and improve this process.

@Anonymous

When you buy an iPhone through CPW then it will lock out to the first sim that is put into it.

The only way to have sim free is to buy from Apple direct (not sure whether Giffgaff lock out on first sim or not).

I bought an iPhone 6 in Epsom O2 and paid the full amount and was told the phone was unlocked. If I had known it wasn't I would have gone to an Apple Store. I have damaged the phone and want to sell it on and was told it was locked to O2. I have called them 3 times and have been it would be unlocked twice but today have been told that because I paid for it in full it is not on a contract so they will not unlock it. I still use O2 and have used it with my sim only contract. I have asked for a supervisor to call me but will wait and see if this happens. I am so fed up with O2 I will definitely consider moving. O2 need to learn about good customer service.

As you have paid in full for the phone they should unlock it.
Have you filled out the form http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-Services/Unlocking-an-O2-phone-to-use-a-different-SIM-ca...
If this fails I would raise a complaint http://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

Whilst your advising on this Unlatching. Could you please tell me where I stand regarding getting my iPhone 6 plus unlocked by 02. I bought the iPhone from an 02 store as a pay & and go and used my 02 12 month sim only contract deal SIM card in the new phone. Now my Sim only deal has ended and as 02 could not give me a good deal I said I would like to leave and go to another provider so would you please unlatch/unlock my iPhone 6 plus. To which 02 said "No as we are not unlocking the iPhone 6 / 6 plus at the moment but in the near future. The way I see it is the phone was a pay and go phone and the sim deal I had was contract. The sim contract has ended I want to leave but 02 will not unlock my iPhone..what ya make of that then. Just to add. I paid in cash the full amount for the phone.

They are now unlocking the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Fill in the form again and quote your monthly contract mobile number and they will unlock it for you irrespective of it being bought on pay and go.

Last week when i asked i must have got a right muppet who was not prepared to assist me at all he wanted to offer me a new deal but i was not interested in that.

Anyway all good after all.Thanks All.
