Many members on here travel the country as you do...I think you will find that they have different coverage with various networks...depending on where they are in the country...
It really is that one size does NOT fit all I am afraid

Hand on heart I could not recommend O2 with any real optimism. Whether it will be fit for purpose after the upgrades finish we can only hope. I certainly wouldn't change network just for the 20gb, it's not much use if you can't use it when needed.

There is a lot of network congestion at the moment maybe due to many masts being upgraded and some areas of the UK still only have 2G coverage, the West Country being a prime example but one of the regulars here has reported getting a 4G signal albeit for just 5 miles recently so things may be moving in the near future.
Best to get a PAYG SIM and test out the areas you visit frequently.
