Hi Tom and welcome to the community.

The offer you've seen is a very new one for 20gb and currently specific to certain devices.

http://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-and-devices/20gb-tariff-intro-offer#qs

Regarding o2's signal.

Put your full Postcode here to see what the mast says for your area http://status.o2.co.uk

Also look here but remember this is for an indication only and is not 100% accurate.

http://www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker

http://mobi.o2.co.uk/pl/svt/si/mo2couk/po/o2uk/pa/4ghome

The best way to check that o2 can give good signal where you live, work and commute is to ask people around you if they are on O2 and how do they find them ,and also if your phone is unlocked to all networks is obtain a free O2 SIM card from any O2 shop, they usually ask for a £10 top up before you leave the shop ,or order one free from https://www.o2.co.uk/freesim/

If your phone is locked to ee then either ask them to unlock or see if someone has an unlocked phone or one that's in O2 already To put the O2 SIM card in.

O2 Network Future is by 2017 http://www.o2.co.uk/connectivity/network-coverage/the-next-big-thing

The final question you need to ask yourself is if ee give you good signal then is it worth migrating for more data because if O2 are not as good then more data is useless without good signal. You could ask ee to see if a better tariff exists for your needs.

If you do migrate and your contract with ee has run its course then here is a help link about using a PAC Code.

Good luck. slight_smile

Tom

Many members on here travel the country as you do...I think you will find that they have different coverage with various networks...depending on where they are in the country...

It really is that one size does NOT fit all I am afraid slight_frown

For me (I travel the whole of this country and abroad) I find that EE gives the best data coverage in the UK alone.
O2 is supposed to be upgrading over the next 2 years but it is behind on data coverage at the moment.

Hand on heart I could not recommend O2 with any real optimism. Whether it will be fit for purpose after the upgrades finish we can only hope. I certainly wouldn't change network just for the 20gb, it's not much use if you can't use it when needed.

There is a lot of network congestion at the moment maybe due to many masts being upgraded and some areas of the UK still only have 2G coverage, the West Country being a prime example but one of the regulars here has reported getting a 4G signal albeit for just 5 miles recently so things may be moving in the near future.

Best to get a PAYG SIM and test out the areas you visit frequently.

I find it wrong that the 20gb plan is only on certain devices seems unfair to me

I think it's wrong to offer 20gb at all until they sort the network out!!
