My son was in Italy and returned to UK from 13/7 to 8/8. He then went to France until 25/7 then returned to UK

My bill shows texts from 25/7 to date costing 29.2p each. Is this not supposed to be free or charged at 15p/text?

For the texts you have been charged for, were they sent from UK or abroad and to what numbers, UK or foreign ones?

By reading O2 help page My bill is higher than expected here

"Going over your monthly allowance of texts and minutes is the most common reason for an unexpectedly high bill. You might also be charged extra for: making calls, sending texts or using data abroad

making calls, sending texts or using data outside of our Europe Zone
sending texts to premium rate services, such as voting in a TV competition
using your phone to make a purchase, such as buying wifi on trains
making calls to non-geographical or premium rate phone numbers
calling a directory enquiry service.
