can anyone tell me why o2 wont price match same deals on o2 through the likes of carphone warehouse i feel they are trying to rip me off

Because they don't need to..... Your airtime and payments still go to O2 and they don't have to subsidise the handset if you buy through CPW. CPW will also try to sell you extras such as insurance once they have you on the hook

Everyone gets the same deals whether they are new or existing customers, its called fair. Carphone warehouse & other independents will offer slightly different deals as they subsidise the phones by offering them for free of a small one off fee whereas O2 shops don't subsidise their phones. Another point is that by subsidising their phones, carphone warehouse & phones 4 u attach hidden extras such as insurance & other incentives to make up for free phones
