swapping the sim card

I have been sent a new sim card as O2 say my current card won't work after 1 April.

Before I swap cards how do I ensure I do not lose any text messages or the entries in my phonebook?

My phone is an old Samsung SGH-M110 which serves my modest needs fine.

Thank you

Philip

If you swap sims you shouldn't lose anything, though you could back up your phone

Use SMS Back up from the Google Play store for texts

After a swap, texts are the last to transfer over

Take out your sim and check if you can still see your texts and contacts.

If so, they are stored on the phone and will not be effected by a sim swap.

If they are gone, you need to copy them from your sim, to your phone before doing the swap.

Thanks for the prompt response but I don't think I can do this.

My old Samsung is "just" a phone so its not connected to my emails or computer so I have no way to take a back up.

I currently have 72 in texts and 57 sent texts somewhere on the phone/sim which I don't want to disappear when I change the sim card.

I am very ignorant about how any mobile phone works and am reluctant to just chance it.

Thank you for the suggestion about how to check where my texts and phonebook are stored.

I removed the current sim card as suggested but when I turned the phone back on it just said "insert sim" and would not let me go any further so I could not see whether the texts ot phonebook were there.

If I swapped to the new card and there were things missing is it possible to put the old card back in to retrieve them?

Thanks

Philip

Yes, check this way first before doing the sim swap.
