Hi

I am in abroad currently. And not using O2 SIM but using local SIM. But every now and then for every 2 or 3 days I keep O2 SIM( by keeping data roaming OFF) in device and check for any missed calls. However I could notice roaming messages charges from number 0780200332 being applied in my bill with £0.41 each time I keep SIM on device even though I never made any messages. Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks

Haris

@Hi2

That is the international gateway message centre.

Your phone is sending text messages when you turn on.

If you are using an iPhone it will be iMessage registering on the serversd or if android, it could be visual voicemaill registering.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

The number shown is the message centre number for O2 when you send texts.

If you havent sent any you need to contact Customer services to ask them what the charges are for

Guide: How to find help & contact O2

Explanation in post.

iMessage, VVM or any other service requiring a handshake with a server located in another country.

Oh I see. Never get an iphone or turn VVM off before you travel then?! Lol

iMessage can be turned off too, but yes, not having an iPhone would certainly help slight_smile

Turn off iMessage whilst you are away.

It's not you sending messages, the phone does it automatically.

Have you an iphone? If so turn iMessage off. If you have Visual Voicemail on, turn that off as well.

Other than that, just use the local sim when away and don't put your O2 one in phone till you get back home.
