how long does this process take? Three stopped my service at 11am . Old number if you phone it now says "number not recognised" which is worrying. O2 number hasn't changed. Last time I changed operators (admittedly years ago) the swap was pretty much instant. O2 customer services says wait until 6pm but this seems like a crazy amount of time. am really nervous about losing long-term phone number

O2 do seem slow at times. I'd give it to mid afternoon before contacting them again as it has only been a hour.

Try switching your phone on and off every half hour with your new SIM inserted

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
