Are you PAYG or Contract?

Top up is not a thing on Contract

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Sounds like you are on a rolling plan Pay As You Go: Introducing "Rolling Plans"

If so, you need a debit card attached to make the top ups which are automatically done via a continuous payment authority.

It would be useful to have some detail on the situation here and how this has arisen ?

Have you moved from PAYG to pay monthly, taking an existing PAYG balance with you ?

@brandon3 - O2 will use your bank details to take payment when your account Airtime balance reaches zero. Any PAYM balance you have on your account will be used first, then remaining monthly amounts will be deducted from your bank.  This assumes you are on an O2 contract (O2 Refresh, PAYM or SIM-only, SIMO).

More on how a credit balance in your account is used if you are on a Refresh contract here: Guide: How does O2 Refresh work?

If you are PAYG, either Big Bundle or Rolling Plan, as outlined above, then you pay yourself every month or use a debit or credit card for rolling payment (no bank details needed).

Good luck!

As I said above, a rolling plan can only be renewed with a linked debit card.

You cannot use your balance.

To do so, switch back to a bundle which will take credit to renew your bundle.
