MI5 - I'm in Leicester and EE are the sole masts in a few of the villages and have a far better coverage than O2.
My phone shows a signal but rarely connects to make or receive a call.
I suggest you try a PAYG sim first before committing to 2 years of headaches.

I do find it a little odd that O2 only now seem to offer refresh and don't give the option of a normal contract
That is only directly from O2.
CPW and Phones4U will still do non refresh upgrades.

When I look in the shop I see 25 phones still available on "Standard" contract, just not the top end models.

I think this is just about customer deflection the customer is still on an o2 contract if buys through cpw etc but the hardware support i.e. Soga becomes cpw etc and not o2.

I think refresh is great I can't personally see why anyone wouldn't go for it but some seem to still like a choice
I agree with that, the biggest complaint on here has always been about wanting to upgrade early, Refresh is a perfect way to do that and there is no penalty to pay.
