old number back again?

I used to have a pay monthly account but let it lapse when I went abroad (owing O2 some money). This was back in 2013

I have just come back and I would like my old phone number back (I have now just paid off the money on the old bill!).
Is there a way to do this?

You need to ask o2 if your number is still available.
If so, it may be possible, but usually numbers get recycled after 6 months or so.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)

Numbers get recycled after 6-12 months and if it wasn’t an original O2 number (for example if it was one you ported in) it will have been returned to the original network.

Hi @dcandersson, it's been a while since you posted your question, so I just wanted to check if you have any update on this? Did you speak with customer service regarding your old number?

So much for all the pious ****** I was told about it being a technological impossibility to ever get your number back again.

A single clearly argued letter to the Chief Exec and bing! hey presto! and simsalabim!I have got my old number back without even a peep of trouble.
