how can i check an old bill to find a mobile number from last year

Are you on contract or PAYG? If on contract old bills can be viewed via My O2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2

They go back 18 months...

If PAYG then you will need a SAR which will cost you http://static.o2.co.uk/www/docs/kana/subjectaccessrequestform.pdf

They should go back at least 2 years for contracts but only show outgoing calls so no use if you are looking for a number that called you?
