o2 to pay off 50% of current contract for upgrade text

I received a text from o2 last week saying I could upgrade my contract for free (still have a few moneths left on it). It was then followed by a message saying the text had been sent in error and as an apology o2 would pay off 50% of my current contract for an upgrade.

I've been on myo2 and looked at my upgrade options but don't see where the 50% discount is for my contract cost. Anyone else been through this?

Thanks!

You need to call 202 and speak to upgrades to see if the text was genuine or not.

They may be from a third party trying to get your business.

Thanks for your response.

Definitely genuine, is in the same text chain where they text my bills and offer notifications.

You may need a code to apply at checkout.

Customer service will be able to confirm that or arrange the discount for you.

Can't get through on 202, been waiting for an advisor to be assigned to my whatsapp for an hour. That's why I thought I'd check this message board to see if anyone else had similar texts.
