Hi,

My family recieved the text below, it seems very much like a scam?

From +44 7704 693778 saying:

FromO2:

We were unable to process your last bill.  To avoid suspension on your contract , please update your billing information now.  [Link removed].

@Mr_H  Yes it's a scam that's been doing the rounds.  Report the scam text to 7726, block the number and any other numbers that arrive with a similar text. Here's how to block a number if you don't know how to do it:

Please delete the link to the scam within your post so no one inadvertently clicks on it. Go to OPTIONS, then Edit Reply.

@Mr_H

Reporting a scam email, text or call

Some scams might pretend to be from O2, or from an organisation you already deal with. It's important that we see examples of phishing emails, texts and websites so we can investigate and shut down scammers. To report a suspicious email, text or website:

  • forward the text message, including phone number or company name, to 7726. It won’t cost you anything and it means we can investigate the sender
  • for emails, forward the message to the organisation that it claims to be from. You can look up the email address to send it to on that organisation’s website
  • for suspicious emails claiming to be from O2, create a new email draft with ‘Phishing’ as the subject. Attach the suspicious email and send it to phishing@o2.com
  • get in touch with the Information Commissioner’s Office by calling 0303 123 1113.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
