Hi, I wonder if someone can help me?
I joined O2 a couple of months ago when I moved to a new home and bundled with virgin for broadband.
I have zero cellular service!
The only time I have service is if I go 100m in any direction away from the home, and then my phone goes nuts when it connects.
Since I got WiFi and WiFi calling, I can at least make and receive calls, but SMS messages for 2FA don't work at all. Which is useless as most of the online services nowadays uses 2FA and SMS for authentication.
I've raised a couple of queries, told engin ers are looking in to it, got messages saying 3 days, then 5 days, then 7 days for a response. Then I got one saying that the area is congested and problem apparently closed?!
I've been told one of the local masts is not operational, but why do I get full 4G+ as soon as I walk far enough away from this dead spot?
I've changed phone settings, updated stuff, turned 4G off etc. nothing works.
It's not just O2, it's all carriers as far as I know and everyone here suffers with no signal.
Please help ☺️

Sounds like a new mast is needed to fill the gap.
Unfortunately not much more you can do until one of the networks addresses the issue.

Would a boost box help?

O2 only make them available to business customers.
Most others you can buy are illegal.

That's a huge shame, especially as I would have been willing to buy one.

They expect you to use wifi calling and they are rolling out sms support too.
Currently only available on the Samsung S10 range and iPhones but they say more are coming.

SMS over WiFi, talked about for the last couple of years, rolled out for the last year, and only supports 2 brands and limited models within them.
I have a OnePlus 6T, so chances of that being integrated anytime soon is not likely.
Thank you for the time to reply though.

In theory, it should work on any android device once testing has been completed and it's fully implemented.
