Are you on pay monthly or PAYG? If you are PAYG you will have to top up first..

Advice on activating your sim here

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/phones-sims-and-devices/activating-your-sim

Also I would remove the sim and reinsert it and try again.

You could pop into an O2 store if you have one close to you...or give customer services a call tomorrow morning https://www.o2.co.uk/contactus

@AnonymousWhat do you mean by a 'new connection'? Have you got a new phone. Does it not ring at all or starts ringing then cuts off?

Check your network status here https://status.o2.co.uk/

If thats ok then remove your sim, clean it gently and reinsert. Turn the phone off and back on again and see if that improves the issue

Check the sound/volume in your settings. Make sure it's turned up

One other question ....does this happen with all calls or just one number?

Go back to the post with the phone number in. Top right hand corner you will see Options. Click on that and you will see the word Edit. If you click that you can delete your number
