My wife is abroad (outside of Europe and outside of extra countries list).  She has racked up costs to use up her extra charges allowance (spend cap?) after just one day.

As far as I can tell, the allowance will renew in September but she needs to use her phone NOW.

I cannot understand the myriad options on the web site and need to speak to a real person which seems to be impossible.

I need advice on what to do to be able to stay in touch.

So far I have emailed her and told her to buy a local SIM and that will probably be quicker than getting any help from O2.

It is NOT the solution I want though because there are other people who will need to contact her too.

Options????

@PHB27

The 25gb limit only applies to EU countries.

When outside of EU you can use O2 travel, where supported at a cost of £6.00 a day which gives unlimited (slow) data and 120 mins of calls and texts per day.

If not in an O2 travel country the costs are horrendous and capped per billing cycle. Any change to that would result in bills of thousands of £'s.

Roaming guide here Guide: Roaming MegaGuide

A local sim may well actually be the solution unless cost doesn't matter.

Without knowing the country she is in, I can't advise further but you should find what you need in the guide.

If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should also be able to help you with this
Thanks

So your wife has used here data allowance?

You can either call customer services on 202 from your o2 phone or 0344 809 0202 from any other phone (the numbers can be found easily on every page ( https://o2.co.uk/contactus ) or If you message O2 on Facebook (https://o2uk.co/O2CFB) , Twitter (https://o2uk.co/O2CTW) or Instagram (https://o2uk.co/O2CIG) , they should be able to help you with this

Bare in mind your wife can only use upto 25GB of data per month whilst roaming even with bolt-ons before been charged for data roaming.

Hi, thanks for responding.

She is in the Philippines which is excluded I believe.

Cost DOES matter (unfortunately).

I will take a look at the guide

I actually managed to get through to somebody on my mobile and checked the spend cap and increased it a bit for now but I think a local sim is the answer.

We normally have "travel" phones with us but she forgot to take one!!!

If she gets a local sim she can use whatsapp I suppose.

Thanks again.

Thanks for responding.

I had actually been trying to get through to O2 on my mobile but without success do to my own stupidity.

It's far too embarrassing to tell you any more!!!

I did finally get through and upped her spending cap for now.

I'm disappointed that the Philippines isn't included but she will have to use a local sim for now.

Thanks again.

@PHB27 Your wife can use WhatsApp over WiFi with either her O2 sim or a local sim to call or text for free. Whoever she's contacting must have the app too.

I DO NOT WORK FOR O2
