n900 on O2

I'm curious whether O2 are going to offer n900 contracts. In Ireland, the device team are evaluating it:
http://forums.o2online.ie/forums/showthread.php?t=5756
which is good news as it implies that they haven't ruled it out.

I've not been able to find similar info in the UK for O2 (but I've been able to find surprisingly good prices for Vodafone and T-mobile).

This phone looks swish enough that I'll change networks to get it, but I'd rather stay with O2 if they offered it.

Yeah a great looking handset with a great open OS called meamo. I WILL be leaving o2 to get this elsewhere if o2 dont secure it themselves. My contract is up soon. Cheapest I have found it for is free on a £35, 18 month contrat.

Maemo on N900

[ Edited ]
Yep. Maemo looks cool. I've seen a number of youtube videos so far:

The browser:

Using TV-OUT to play SNES Games on a TV:

Quake III:

Google Wave:

and the OS itself:

Looking forward to getting my hands on it

I'm not holding out much hope for o2 getting this. They used to have all the cutting edge phones. These days they don't even have the Nokia N97.

Where have you seen the N900 free on a £35 18 Month contract by the way?

info

Made a few calls today....

O2 - Had no idea about the phone and had never heard of it, was told that its not even in there coming soon database which show's phones to be released up until the end of November.

Voda - The guy had heard of the phone as he's been getting numbers of calls about it, said they where not due the phone in within the next 6 weeks but thats not to say that the phone might be available after that OR they might not even stock the phone at all, also said that some 3rd party suppliers are supplying them on the voda network ie mobile phones direct.

MISSED OPPERTUNITY !
was reading on another forum about discount codes for the nokia webiste which ended today, basically you could have got £200 off the nokia n900 on the nokia website but the offer ended in the early hours and we missed it, alot of people got the offer and the phones will be delivered last friday of this month or the following monday ! Play.com has this for around £500 with a release date of last day of the month. But I really don't see this coming out that early. Especially on the networks.

Shame we missed out of the offer of the discount. Hopefully o2 will be offering this free on a £35 18 Month contract.

In this case it is lucky that o2 don't care about Nokias, otherwise they would be trying to tie us in to a 24 month contract like if you want the Pre for nothing.

Just found this on www.phonesreview.co.uk
In the UK the Nokia N900 will be free on a two-year contract at £35 monthly plan from Orange, or for £10 on a £30 per month plan at O2 (with a two-year service agreement).

Mixed blessings, it seems

Spotted that one earlier too. What's the difference between a contract and a service agreement?

Seen that in a couple of places. I'm due an upgrade and phoned O2 to be told that it was listed on either their launch or pre-launch schedules for the next two weeks.

So perhaps that info is wrong or has been picked up from a re-seller?
