Whatsapp uses data to work.

From their official page.

How it works

WhatsApp Messenger is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows you to exchange messages without having to pay for SMS. WhatsApp Messenger is available for iPhone, BlackBerry, Android, Windows Phone and Nokia and yes, those phones can all message each other! Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan that you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to message and stay in touch with your friends.

So if you have not turned off mobile data and 3g in your phone to use your home broadband wifi it could be using your allowance data.

If you download an app called onavo it will show you whats being used and can compress the data thus saving it.

If you want you could contact o2 via Live Chat.

They may be able to shed some light on it if you dont want to phone o2.

Hi,

If your on payg then dial 4445 from your phone which will cost you £0.25 per call to speak to customer services.

They will tell you whats been used etc.

If your on a contract then dial 202 from your mobile which is a free call.

Are you on a contract pay monthly.

If so look in Myo2 to look at your bills and print them if needed.

If your on payg then no.

I do believe you can contact Customer Services and pay a £10 fee for limited info.

Can you eloberate on whats happening ?

ok thank you. It therefore appears that because I am on pay as you go I cannot get an itemised account of how i have spent my money. If this is correct then either i must spend £10 for relevant information or ask customer services which I am loathe to do.

are you wanting an itemised list of phone calls or an explanation to how your top up credit has been used on texts or data use ?

If your not on a tariff with a data package then when you connect to o2's internet you will pay the web daily fee which is £1 per day for 50mb of data use.

Web daily help Link.

What payg tariff are you on.

Check in your my02 app or online using the link at the top of the forum page.

I am on text and web and for £10 I get 300 UK texts and 500 mb UK Internet. I don't use my phone for the Internet and use whatsapp for my messages, I really cannot understand why my balance disappears. I thought if I could print an itemised bill for everything that I have used I could change whatever I am doing wrong or complain
