i have recently upgraded to a new tarrif, the new tarrif cost £26.83 monthly so why am i being charged £41.65 for the first month?

Normally your first bill covers the first few days before the account is set up and the first months tariff in advance. You should find your second bill will be your correct tariff plus any charges outside your allowance such as picture mesages, calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers etc.
There should be a complete breakdown of the charges on your first bill.

When did you sign up for this new tariff.
The extra amount may be to bring you inline.
Call Customer services on 202 who will confirm for you.
