@trevtravellerYou should try and make use of any WiFi available It appears to be plentiful according to this

https://www.vietnamonline.com/faqs/where-can-i-find-places-with-free-wifi-in-vietnam.html

You could keep in touch with friends and family via messenger or Whatsapp etc

Or even purchase a local sim which probably work out cheaper. Just a few alternative suggestions.

You will only get 3G in Vietnam by the way...

@trevtraveller If you're planning on using a local SIM make sure your phone is unlocked before you leave.

@trevtraveller it may be worth getting a pay and go sim from another UK mobile network who now provide "roam at home" in that location

Wifi is plentiful and 2free in major cities such as Hanoi and  Ho Chi Min but obviously less so out of the more populated areas.

An O2 simcard or locked phone is useless to anyone now since the demise of TU because the charges are crippling. Get your phone unlocked and buy a local sim (definitely not at the airport!

You're allowed to say Three, @PhoneChanger. An O2 bolt of lightning won't come out of the sky and incinerate you if you do.😋

If it does suit you to use a local or alternative network sim and you need to unlock your phone, how to is here https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Other-Products-and-Services/Unlocking-an-O2-phone-to-use-a-different-S...
Obviously we don't know you so can't say if having a different number would be detrimental to you or your business through.

Just by way of clarification to my post above, whilst there are no data bolt ons available to reduce the cost of using data, you can, if you wish, get a bolt on to extend the amount of data you are able to use during a billing cycle.

This "bolt on" can be added through your MyO2 http://www.o2.co.uk/myo2
