iPhone Tariffs

I've been a customer of O2 / BT Cellnet Pay Monthly for over ten years and always take out 12 month contracts.  During my last contract they didn't offer 12 month options, so I reluctantly took out an 18 month contract, which I hated, I felt 'bound' for too long.

My upgrade is coming up in a fortnight and I want an iPhone 5, however, O2 are only offering 24 month contracts.

Is this for real?  If it is, it looks like I'm gonna have to switch to Vodafone of EE who offer 12 month contracts for similar monthly payments as O2's 24 month contract.

Who have I gotta whinge too to get a 12 month (or at a push 18 month) contract?

Definitely speak to retentions. The only people who have posted on here who have managed to get 12 or 18 month contracts have done so through retentions.

Go sim free, buy the phone outright then choose a sim only deal suited to you

I must have missed all of these other companies offering the iPhone 5 on a 12m contract.

So I checked. Vodafone do. Orange, T-Mobile, Three and O2 don't. And as for offering it at the cost of our 24m offering I'd beg to differ on that too. For example Voda want £52 a month at least, and £170 for the handset. Compare with O2 - FREE at £46, £169 at £31 a month. Hardly the same figures.

O2 aren't doing 12month contracts for the iPhone 5 as the cost of subsidising it is ridiculous at that term. As far as I know, Retentions/Upgrades don't have any authority to offer anything other than a 24m contract.

As I've said many times before.... Never let the truth get in the way of a good argument wink
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Currently using:
Pixel 7a (O2 & Lyca), One Plus 6 (Sfr), iPhone 12 Pro Max (Vodafone)
