iPhone 5s stuck on 3G (4G pay as you go go go tariff)

Anonymous

Just looking for any ideas, really.

I ordered a new 4G pay as you go go go SIM from o2 - popped it into the phone and immediately saw that I had 4G reception. However, as soon as my number was transferred to the new SIM it's now stuck on 3G. I live in London, and have been out and about, but it's still saying 3G (a speed test confirms that i'm still receiving 3G speeds).

I've contacted support, who couldn't see anything wrong - they said to go to an o2 store, which I did today. They thought there might be an issue with the SIM - they game me a new one, but that's still stuck on 3G.

The phone has been rebooted / airplane moded many times, and can confirm that 4G is enabled in settings. Carrier settings are version O2 15.6

I'm pretty much stuck. I've got the £15 monthly 4G tariff on my account. My gut feeling is that it's an account issue - but o2 can't see anything wrong.

Why would it show 4g before the number swap if it was the wrong sim?

When did the number change over?
It can sometimes take a while for everything to catch up.....

Hmmm, would have thought it should all have caught up by now...
Can't think of anything else at the moment to what you've already tried.

OK, thanks anyway. I just used the o2 chat functionality - they checked the SIM card serial number which the o2 shop provided, and it's not 4G compatible. Frustrating. They're sending out another new one, which I'll try.

Hi,

I recently did the change from Payg go go go to Payg 4g on the 5s, which you have performed too, and everything went through Ok.

My carrier settings are : 02 15.6 too.

Lets hope the new sim is the right one this time !

It should say 4g on the nano sim.

Exactly.

It shouldn't.

The OP should check if their nano sim says 4g on it to be sure what type of sim it is.

I would go with collecting one from their most local o2 store and check it says 4g on it and let them perform the swap.
