I have just arrived in Mali from Afghanistan. My iPhone 5 is showing no service although in Afghanistan was working perfectly ok. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok have you also tried removing and cleaning the sim card and also a reset network settings?

Also try re booting the iphone by pressing the top sleep wake button and home button until the apple logo appears and let go.

Can you try a local SIM card if your iPhone 5 is unlocked ?

Yes mate that's my next step. Though already have local sim in iPhone 4. But obviously not on O2.

It may be your short term remedy I'm afraid or just use your iPhone 4 and turn off the iPhone 5 !
