I'm in Croydon in South London, and in pretty much most of the town centre in the last few weeks, my phone has displayed 3 or 4 bars/dots of signal, and 3G, but it wont connect to the internet. In other parts of the town it'll show E or GPRS and at least connect albeit slowly, so I'm not sure why when it shows 3G it won't do anything. It works fine out of the town centre and at home, and has previously worked fine, until the last few weeks.
I tried cleaning the SIM but it hasnt made any difference, and as it works elsewhere probably wouldn't be the solution anyway.
Any suggestions as to solutions?

Hi,
Next time your there check the service status from your iPhone http://status.o2.co.uk/
Cleaning the sim is one way of heping resolving connection/call problems.
Try : Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Its weird you can connect to 3g data services in some places and not others so it must be that the signal is suffering in the town centre. Remember the signal bars are not 100% accurate.
