Waited 25min to get through to O2 started a conversation but got cut off. I have transferred all data from 8plus all good but even after 2 days have NO O2 signal from my new 5G sim so still using 8plus for calls

You need to do a sim swap from your old sim to activate the new 5g one. 

Guide: Sim Swap: a mini guide 2017 update 

or just put your old sim in the new phone.

Thanks for that I thought the Sim they sent was specifically for the phone for the 5G but it’s working with the old Sim from the 8 Plus

You're welcome.

If you are in a 5g area you can swap to the 5g sim, but no point if you can only get 4g now.

Just remember you'll need a 5g sim when 5g reaches your area.
